Work Experience...

I was lucky enough to have the oppurtunity to work for an amazing childrens wear designer label, SUDO.

I was able to work closely with the design team who were super welcoming and taught me with open arms about the fashion industry. If you havn't already heard of this label go check it out, here! Here is something from the current range that stood out to me... I loved the classic shape, Aztec print and beautiful attention to detail! Finding inspiration for all walks of life is paramount, and this week was a really important one for me!

I was lucky enough to be able to put my own outfits together and take home georgous garments for some family! Skinny leg jeans, shirts, jersey knit long sleeves.

It's official...

I'm excited and proud to say Mickey Rose is really starting! With more things organised and under way it means this is really coming together.... Eeep! I will be posting little projects I am currently working on through my final semester at uni and little things inspiring me towards my label. Early next year production will take off but for now I am honoured to make you guys a part of my journey. I hope you can continue to enjoy the blog! Half as much as I enjoy bringing it to you :) x

Myer Autumn/Winter 2013

On the 28th of February and 1st of March I had the privilege of working backstage for the Myer Autumn/Winter range launch. I was able to work alongside some very talented crew whom worked tirelessly towards making this event possible and were kind enough to show some RMIT students just how much work goes on behind the scenes.  Alongside this I was able to meet the beautiful, Jenifer Hawkins and Chris Smith. 

I was fortunate enough to have my own work station, and dress my own model in the amazing designer work such as; Aurthur Gallan, Charlie Brown, Sass & Bide and much more. Below I have included some of the stunning designer garments from the event... 

A common trend throughout the upcoming seasons range that captured my attention were; silver sequin embellishments, geometric shapes and patterns, paisley patterns, block colours of the very classic black and white, leather panelling, peplums, and the contrast of structure and flow so carefully put together...

14th of February

On the 14th of February I woke up to the smell of pancakes and my amazing Sister, Mum & Boyfriend.
Happy Birthday to me...
1. Amazing table setting, with antique plates and hand painted paper dowlies
2. Pancake stack, choc chip, banana and plain wholemeal pancakes
3. Homemade Latte, and homemade orange juice waiting to follow
4. Home grown flowers, handpicked that very morning
5. A stack of presents!

I was super spoilt this year, Thank you to all the amazing people that helped me celebrate over the three days! I am feeling very grateful... Just remember for the next birthday coming up in your life get a little crafty or personal, a little thought goes a very long way.

Hens Night.

As part of my Wedding line of posts, I'm happy to show you the Hens night put together by four wonderful bridesmaids. Blogging is a great way to get inspiration and ideas for hosting your next event, I hope this helps!

I think surprises are great! Keeping the Bride to be out of it, & you organise these fun events.
As we know brides have enough to do.

For this special occasion we decided to start with High Tea, homemade, of course. High tea is a buffet of scones, cream, cupcakes, plenty of tea and in this case a little sangria! We baked all the amazing goods ourselves assigning each bridesmaid to a job. The buffet table was an elaborate array of three tier platters filled with mini sweets and savoury goods, jars of lollies and nick nacks that we had collected over time to complete the feel.

The table setting is an important part to a tea party... We completed it with a tea cup (varied style for every table placement), a placemat (which was actually just a piece of scrap booking paper) but it really completed the look, a doily coaster (for the tea cup!), and to finish it unique place cards with everyone’s names and a vintage pin up girl (ready to wear as lanyard for the rest of the night!). *example above

This created the perfect eclectic vintage stay at home High Tea.

Next we travelled off to, "Hens love art". *picture above*
Staying true to a traditional hen’s night! The retro loft was filled with easels, 15 giggling Champaign drinking women and one buff man ready to be drawn. “Hen’s love art” made the experience complete, with small prizes, fun music and dress ups for the Hen.

And then it’s always nice it end the night with some bar hoping, and a boogie.

so, I'm going back in time for a few posts before I start posting about now! Sometimes we need to admit it, life just gets in the way.... But I'm back in the blogging world and figers crossed, I'm here to stay!

Morocan Inspired Kitchen Tea!

Two weekends ago my sisters bridal party (me included!) successfully hosted her Moroccan Inspired Kitchen Tea! It was exciting to have a different theme, and everything to be a complete surprise for the bride to be! We wanted to stay true to theme, using rich colours of red, orange, pink and gold, and then also taking on the homemade antique vibe.


In the first image you can see our theme table, which just had decoration to set the mood and no main food on it. It backed on to the amazing pool and garden area, really setting a relaxed environment. Each table setting had a centre piece, just as the bottom images display. This kept the theme consistent through the entire party area. The decor was a mixture of great op shop finds! And ornaments I've been collecting over time and handmade pieces. A few little homemade art projects always give a great touch. Together I think it had an amazing feel!

It was a joy to see our visions come to life, and get busy with a few homemade art projects.

To make the day pass, we had plenty of food and desert, also played a few games; a great one for any one organising a kitchen tea, or any shower in this case is, Bingo! Traditionally presents are opened in front of all your guests, so giving everyone a bingo card to play along whilst opening presents keeps it fun for everyone. Great idea for young and old, I’ve given an example of the simple cards above!
