Ah! As most of you would know I've just visited Europe and it was AH-mazing! Instead of giving you a HUUGE spiel on how it all was and what you should do if planning to visit the destinations or if you are just generally interested in travel I will give you my top few tips for each city. So, a smaller huge spiel ;).
In total we visited around 8 countries & 14 cities, it was a lot to fit into 6 weeks. So I will post it broken up over a few posts in the next week or so. Hope the tips are helpful and you enjoy! All images were taken by me on our trip (of a life time)!
Stop number 1: Barcelona, Spain
FAVOURITE CITY, a must visit destination.
1. The castle at the top of the city, you can reach it by cable car & the views are crazy amazing!
Easiest way to see & get to these icons was going on the open air city tour buses!
2. Out door food markets, try heaps of different food & soak up the atmosphere!
3. Barcelonetta, of course. The main beach strip, with great food & cocktails.
4. The Gothic Quarters, every turn has something amazing to marvel at.
5. Personal favourite, The magic fountain of Montjuic. Photos do not do it justice, it's breath taking.
*in order of images.

Quote...
This is actually a quote I heard Will.i.am say on the voice (How
lame, I know!) but very fitting in both the music and fashion industry. When I
heard him say this it really resonated with me and it couldn't be more true. So, I
thought I'd share it with you.
I know I haven’t blogged much of late amongst trying to fit everything in, but
when I do have something to say or show you of importance I'll be sure to pop
it here in hopes you can enjoy it.
I constantly find myself trying to figure
"it" out, find some peace in what I'm doing. I guess everybody is.
And then the moment I do, the moment it gets a little easier or I complete that
task; I'm searching for my next challenge, the next adventure, questioning myself
how I can take it all further. This is exhausting at times, frustrating even. But It is the only way I have made it this far, and it’s all because;
"As soon as you're comfortable, you're sleeping."
In saying all this I'd like to say such a
HUUUUUGE, THANK YOU! To all of you!
I feel like I'm coming to the end of a
chapter, I have spent the the first half of this year opening this business, my
label, 'Mickey Rose’ from scratch and now I am about to jet set around the
world. (WOW!) All this couldn't have happened without you guys. So I’m
taking this as a time to reflect and be grateful for how it has all happened so
far. There have been many tears, break downs and days of just being plain
exhausted but I made it to the half way mark of the year as a business owner,
and wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope you can all stay on board while I
venture the globe, and I'll hopefully have an awesome post reflecting my
inspirations of Europe upon my return.
When I return to reality (which I don’t really want to think about
just yet) I look forward to bringing you more of Mickey Rose and what we are
all about. More designs, collections, inspiration, I just can’t wait to bring
you... more! All in good time so keep watching and enjoying the journey of
Mickey Rose.
Keeping it real- x
Happy travels!

H A R L O W dress...
Last week we did our first Fashion shoot for the launch of the first Dress; Simple Skater dress, Harlow. It was exciting, stressful & breath taking to see my work come to life...
This is a bigger snippet of the photoshoot, we wanted it to tell a story of Adventure, that this is a dress you can be a child in, that you can run, jump and play in. The adorable mini model Pheonix really captured this, along side my amazing photographer, Nicole Williams Photography.

VAMFF...
Over the weekend I went to Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival with some old Uni friends. Runway 7, featuring; Alice McCall, Bec & Bridge, Limedrop, Macgraw, Secret South, Nevenka and Shakuhachi. These looks were some that stood out to me, for some inspiration. It is always interesting to look at Women's wear for inspiration for Children's wear...

History....
I sat down to sew my first official piece for Mickey Rose, the mini bib range, "Noah" & "Daisy" and it was one of those moments you remember forever...
This is exactly where I first saw a sewing machine, where I first watched my Nonna sew, where I learnt to sew, and partly taught myself to sew. I was fortunate enough to grow up having my Nonna as a seamstress, and spent many days in this room with her. I would of only been about 4 when I knew I wanted to have a career that allowed me to be creative. For many of my primary school years I remember just sitting and watching her sew. Taking mental note of how to use the machine, work with fabric, mimic what she did and everything in between. One day my Nonna was busy and without thinking left me alone in with the sewing machine... I found a few scrap of fabric, and a zip that looked like it would do the job. I made several little pencil cases, fitted with a zipper and all. I remember my Nonna coming in to check on me, she was in complete shock and was so proud of my messy little creations. In the coming years, the early years of high school, we were sewing full garments together. I knew then I wanted to become a fashion designer. And now as a business owner of my own label, Mickey Rose, I sat down to sew my first line of products at the very same machine, in its very same spot, with the guidance of one very talented lady.
I am by no means perfect at this trade, and still have a lot to learn, especially from my Nonna but I am grateful to have this space where I grew up, where i learnt to sew to start my business. Sewing is by far not my preferred aspect of being a fashion designer, but i believe it gives me a greater understanding of how to design and an even greater appreciation for the art.
And on that note enjoy my first bib designs, they are on sale!
Hand sewn, here; with love.x
