Rosetta

Some days are more difficult than others... Today everything felt overally time consuming, overwhelming and like everything was challenging me! All trivial things like, fabric stores running out of my order, denim not dying perfectly, patterns not working out to plan, machines playing up, my phone dying and so on.Then I remembered the beautiful people that cant be here with me anymore and the meaning behind my label.... and I took a deep breathe!

Sometimes I think we forget to breathe and live in the moment. I try to practise this every day, the little hippie inside me tells me to. And I am crazy, but it does work! Remember to be grateful in everything we do.

The very first blog post is actually based on my Dad and all that time ago I promise I would do one on the "Rose" in my label name. Mickey Rose was named after my Dad, Mick and my mums best friend in the whole world,  Rosetta.

Rosetta was like an auntie, a big sister, a second mum, a close friend to me. She was a mum to two beautiful kids and an amazing wife. I will share one amazing memory with you that hopefully gives you an insight to why her names deserves a part in my label... I have been drawing ever since I was about 5 years old, when I was a teenager I started to take it very seriously and drew for hours on end. She would always ask me to see my folios, "one day make me this..." she would say "...you're amazing" "you're going to make it one day girl..." Everyone around us told her she was getting my hopes up too high and that it wouldn't let me be realistic with my goals.... That's insane, it has only motivated and inspired me til this day to be the best version of myself and make the most of my determine personality and skills. I work really hard at this but I want to design garments and gifts that people can enjoy. It's only very early days but I hope I am making them proud so far...

I love you both, & I miss you. Thanks for believing in me.

Inspiration...

Did you know? Most of the time when children's wear designers are brainstorming for a collection they often look to women's fashion for inspiration and concepts! Many women's wear trends and details can be interrupted into littlies clothing. The silhouette might differ but the design features can definitely be taken on board and re invented. These are some looks I'm really adoring right now, the theme throughout is  a Gypsy, Bohemian feel. I am currently in the process of drawing up some designs based on this inspiration and seeing where it can take me... In the end I will be hoping producing a women's evening wear garment! (It's for uni, so must womends!) But will look at re creating it into a mini me version early next year, size 1 to 7.
Look at the amazing attention to detail, bead work, fantastic pattern & colour choice with relaxed spring/ summer vibes...

Enjoy-x

Mood/ Vision Boards....

Ever needed a little more motivation?...

Vision and mood boards are a great way to help you set goals and keep yourself motivated. I have started two seperate ones for slightly different aspects of my life. In the past I have found myself easily disheartened and unmotivated but this half of the year really wanted to change that!

The first mood baord is a bunch of images or childrens wear garments that I had collected over time that really inspired me! Also a bunch of adorable fabric I had collected and cut into shapes and images. Anything that made me feel inspired and think, adorable! I placed it on my huge "study" soon to be "office" desk with pefect flowers, a vintage art work from my Mums childhood room and scented soy candles, of course!

The second mood board was more like, a mood door! I put together images from magazines, like the fernwood fortmonthly magazine, FRANKIE magazine, women's heath mag and special things from Lola Berry's healh Seminar (an amazing food/health nut, check her out here!). Also through on a bunch of polaroids of people that mean the world to me! (but more about those polaroids in the next post, or so.)

Exercise
Travel the world

Be Zen

Work Experience...

I was lucky enough to have the oppurtunity to work for an amazing childrens wear designer label, SUDO.

I was able to work closely with the design team who were super welcoming and taught me with open arms about the fashion industry. If you havn't already heard of this label go check it out, here! Here is something from the current range that stood out to me... I loved the classic shape, Aztec print and beautiful attention to detail! Finding inspiration for all walks of life is paramount, and this week was a really important one for me!

I was lucky enough to be able to put my own outfits together and take home georgous garments for some family! Skinny leg jeans, shirts, jersey knit long sleeves.

Spotted in SUDO! Dressed by me, and loving his little outfit... Isn't he adorable??

Go get Inspired! x
